Steven M. Horvath papers, 1938-1992.

Reprints and typescripts of research papers and articles, writings of others, and documentation pertaining to the Institute of Environmental Stress, Center for Aging Research, and UCSB. Materials pertaining to the Institute of Environmental Stress include the director's correspondence file, annual reports, photographs, grants, and program files. The collection also includes planning files for a three day symposium in 1992 entitled "Humans under stress, will they survive?," which was held in honor of Horvath's 80th birthday. There is ample correspondence with Vernon L. Cheadle, former Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Horvath, Steven M.

American physiologist educated at Miami University of Ohio (BA 1934) and Harvard University (Ph. D. 1942). At Harvard, Horvath worked in the Fatigue Laboratory under the guidance of the eminent physiologist David Bruce Dill.
